Stacey Nicole Barrow, 31, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, in a local hospital.

She was a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Robert Watkins; grandfather, William R. Watkins; grandmothers, Leanna Hardy and Annie Lewis; great-grandmother, Margaret Fuqua; aunts, Edna E. Baker and Elnora Hardy Abrams; uncle, Jommie L. Watkins.

Survivors: father, Jacob "Pete" Barrow Jr.; mother, Juanita Barrow; grandmother, Dorothy Watkins, all of Chattanooga; great-great-grandmother, Nazel Watkins, of Rogersville, Ala.; sisters, Tanika L. Barrow, Lashunda Barrow, Tawana Barrow and Nicole Wilson, all of Chattanooga; nieces and nephews, Data, Antiona, Alexis and Corey Jr.; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins; special friends, Turnae Watson, Odessa McCullough and a host of other friends.

Funeral: Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Johnson officiating.

Jackie Chadwick

Jackie E. Chadwick, 70 of Chattanooga, and formerly of Chatsworth and Ellijay, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Hospice of Chattanooga after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Bonita Chadwick; sisters, Sharon Hood and Geraldine Reece, He was the devoted son-in-law of the late Dorsey and Josie Aaron. Mr. Chadwick was retired from Roadway Express.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Darlene Aaron Chadwick, of Chattanooga; daughter, Connie Garrison, of Ooltewah; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jennifer Chadwick, of Dalton; and a son, Geoffrey Chadwick, of Ooltewah; four grandchildren, Jake and Jenna Chadwick, Dylan Garrison and Austin Norman; sisters, Joyce Jones, of Ellijay, Shirley Jones, of Jasper, Debra Thurman of Blue Ridge. A special great-nephew, William Aaron, of Dalton. Numerous other nieces and nephews also survive.

Services will be today 4 p.m. from the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Cathy Prince Stokes officiating.

The family asks that flowers be omitted and donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Chattanooga.

Ralph Cresswell Sr.

Ralph Edward Cresswell Sr., 76, of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

Survivors include sons, Alan, Bo, Marc and Kevin Cresswell; daughter, Joy McSpadden; brothers, J.C. Cresswell and Gary Breeden; sisters, Reba Hall and Betty Rogers; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kennard Douglas Jr.

Kennard Anthony Douglas Jr., affectionately called "Doug", peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, after a sudden illness.

He entered this life on May 4, 1961 in New Orleans, La. He was the eldest of three children born to Mr. Kennard A. Douglas Sr. and Mrs. Stella Hinds Douglas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Leonie Douglas and Pansy and Samuel Hinds.

Kennard was educated in the public schools of Orleans Parish, New Orleans, La. He graduated from Marion Abramson Sr. High School where he was a star catcher on the school's baseball team. His love for automobiles and all things mechanical led to a lifelong career as a mechanical/electrical genius as well as a carpenter. He could repair anything! When he wasn't being the ever-ready fix-it man, he enjoyed motorcycling, golf, traveling and above all -- his family. Kennard married his high school sweetheart Paulette Dolliole and they raised their two daughters Rachel and Paulette in New Orleans, La. He was employed by American Marine, NOLA Regional Transit Authority and Lockheed-Martin.

Kennard was baptized in the Holy Catholic church and attended St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in New Orleans. Kennard was an avid reader of history books and do-it-yourself manuals. He spent many hours building and renovating their home with the help of his wife and daughters. Kennard was working on his parents' home in Chattanooga when God called him home.

Among those never to forget him are his loving wife and best friend, Mrs. Paulette Dolliole Douglas; adoring daughters, Rachel Michaele and Paulette Irene, New Orleans, La.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kennard A. (Stella) Douglas Sr., Chattanooga; sister, Mrs. Annette Douglas (John Sr.) Adams, Chattanooga; brother, Mr. Dwight Patrick (Sharell) Douglas Sr., Chattanooga; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Denise (Doug) Sewell, Lansing, Miss., Ms. Carol LeBlanc, New Orleans, La. Marie Fleming

Marie Jeanette Williams Fleming, 94, of Spartanburg, S.C., passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in Chattanooga.

She was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Rutherfordton, N.C., the daughter of the late James Knox and Frances Candace McMillan Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cranford Harold Fleming; and her son, Dr. Harold E. Fleming Sr.

After graduating from Holly Springs High School, Marie attended Asheville Normal Teacher's College in Asheville, N.C. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg for over 70 years.

Marie Williams Fleming was the epitome of a beautiful Southern lady with all the charm that embodies. Her vivacious, creative spirit, quick wit, zeal for life, and love of people made indelible impacts on every life she touched. Her passions for cooking and gardening, especially irises, were prevalent throughout her home and yard. Helping and giving to others were her greatest joy. Her boundless love of God, her family, and her friends were the essence of her being.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Candace Marie Fleming Chazen (Robert Sr.) of Lookout Mountain; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth B. Fleming, of Spartanburg, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Dr. H. E. Fleming, Jr. (Andrea), of Palo Alto, Calif., Dr. Nicholas F. Fleming (Lisa), of Spartanburg, S.C.; Dr. Elizabeth A. Fleming, of Spartanburg, S.C.; Melissa Jo Fleming, of New York, N.Y.; Dr. Russell C. Dreyer (Brandye), of Seymour, Tenn.; Kendall H. Dreyer, of Chattanooga; Theodore H. Dreyer (Christina) of Chattanooga, J. Daniel Dreyer (Melody) of Richmond, VA, and Robert G. Chazen Jr., of Lookout Mountain; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ermon Theatrice Goldston, 80, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

She retired from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and was a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Zella Yarber; sisters, Zorina Yarber, LuGene Arnold, Virginia Pearl Bivins, Cora Lee Suggs; brothers, James Yarber, Henry "Buck" Yarber.

Left to cherish her memories are her sisters, Odena McWilliams, of Whitwell, Claudine Johnson, of Chattanooga, Alice Faye Swafford, of Whitwell; brother, Larry Yarber, of Chattanooga; many nieces and nephews, host of friends.

Robert Hall Sr.

Robert Lee Hall Sr., 94, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010, in a local healthcare facility.

He was a former employee of Benton Oil Co.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Estell Hall.

Survivors: sons, Robert Hall Jr., Willie Hall, both of Chattanooga, Gary (Tina) Hall, of Nashville and Noah Hall, of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Della Hall, of Meridian, Miss.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Windfield Hall of Chattanooga; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The body will lie in state on Saturday after noon at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at Enterprise Funeral Home, 3207 11th Street, Meridian, MS 39301, at a later date.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Haskel Holloway

Haskel T. Holloway left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, May 12, 2010, at a local hospital. He was 89 years old.

Mr. Holloway was born in Milo, Tenn., on Feb. 17, 1921 to William and Millie Holloway and lived his childhood years in Pikeville, Tenn. After graduating from Bledsoe County High School, he joined the CC Camp and was stationed in Bristol, Tenn., where he met and married the love of his life -Elizabeth B. Hill. Haskel and Elizabeth have resided in Chattanooga, for 68 years where he worked for the U.S. Postal service, retiring after 30 years of service. After retirement, he drove for Roberts Express, a nation-wide delivery service, for 10 years.

He was a faithful member of North Chattanooga Church of God, where he served as church clerk for 38 years. In addition, he served as a Trustee of the Tennessee Church of God State Office.

Haskel saw action in the European Theatre during WWII, joining as a medic due to religious convictions about taking human lives. Pfc. Holloway received the Purple Heart and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for his service to his country.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth B. Hill Holloway, sons Gerald (Sue), of Manila, Philippines, Tommy (Glenda), of Chattanooga and daughter Judy Rives, of Chattanooga, five grandchildren, Elizabeth Farlett (Randall), Linnea Maye (Stephen), Angela Frost (Bob), Mark Holloway (Marcy) and Tina Smith; and 14 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Tara and Ethan Farlett, Madeleine and Garrett Maye, Tiffany, Hayden and Preston Frost, Jessica, Luke, Sarah, Matthew and Andrew Holloway and Marissa Smith and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home today from 6-8 p.m.

The memorial service held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at North Chattanooga Church of God Ministry Center at 2929 Hamill Road.

Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post 95 and the Chattanooga National Guard.

Richard Howard, 61, of Hixson, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

James Kittle

James "Jim" Stacy Kittle, 54, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010. He had battled colon rectal cancer for the past five years.

Jim was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. He graduated from Chattanooga Valley High in 1974. He served six years in the United States Air Force and also several years in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He was a loving husband and father, a true family man. He enjoyed time in the mountains, riding motorcycles, camping, canoeing and hiking. He hiked over 1,000 miles of the Appalachian Trail.

Survivors include wife, Carolyn Kittle; sons, SFC James II and Melissa Kittle, Jeb Kittle; daughter, Kelsea Kittle; step-daughter, Samantha Goodwin; grandsons, Sean and James "J.J." Kittle III; father, Stacy Kittle; mother, Doris Kittle; sisters, Diane and Michael Talley, Cindy and Randy Clemons, Jessica Kittle. Many loved aunts, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be in Rock Pointe Worship Center, 104 Oak St., Rossville. from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 15, with service at 3 p.m.

Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery Monday, May 17, at 2:30 p.m.

Jere Martin

Jere Earl Martin died Wednesday, May 12, 2010. He was 80.

Jere was born and raised in Chattanooga.

Mr. Martin was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. A Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, he was a veteran of the Korean War. Jere was a graduate of Chattanooga High School (Class of 1947), the University of Chattanooga and a retired employee (34 years) of General Motors Acceptance Corporation.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosellen; a son, Andy Martin and wife, Kari, of Chattanooga; a daughter, Melissa "Missy" Morgan, of Nashville; two grandsons, Justin and Tyler Morgan; and two granddaughters, Morgan and Campbell Martin.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. John United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sherry Boles officiating and Rev. Dallas Beck assisting.

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Dot Murray

Dorothy Louise "Weezie" Murray passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the age of 85.

She was the youngest of three daughters of respected Chattanooga developer John Carlton Murray.

She was a faithful member of St. Jude Catholic Church, having attended daily Mass and Rosary. Her delightful sense of humor and generous spirit won her many loyal friends and admirers.

Dot served in the United States Navy during WWII. She retired after a career at Vance Iron & Steel and then Bradley Butane Propane Co.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Carlton Murray and Eleanor Lampen-Williams Murray and two sisters, Mary Eleanor Lahiere and Betty Jean Murray.

She is survived by her three nieces, Suzanne Lahiere Plyler of Memphis, Mary Lahiere White, of Whitwell, and Jeanie Lahiere Byerly, of Knoxville.

Margaret Ann Pierce, 91, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord and late beloved husband, George A. Pierce on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Margaret was the root of her family. She was a very strong, compassionate, loving and giving person. She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. Margaret retired from DuPont Corporation with over 35 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Buddy Higgins and George A. Pierce; a sister, Charlotte Garner; and a very special friend, Jack Walker Sr.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Marianne Eaves Smith. She was the grandmother and mother to Richard Michael Eaves, Nancy (Phil) Eaves Pierce and Lisa Ann Eaves; eight great-grandchildren, Michele Griswold, Atira and Chase Eaves, Phillip, Rebecca and Jimmy Pierce, Emily (Billy) Foster and Sheena Heck; three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, June Jordan, Joyce (Ken) Varner, Dorothy Hodgkins and Donald (Martha) Long; several nieces and nephews.

Debra Yvonne Shirley, 54 of Chattanooga, departed this life Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at her home.

Her father, Melvin Tommy Simpson, and grandson, Jacob Wilson, preceded her in death.

He was born in Chattanooga and had lived several years in Cleveland, Tenn., before moving back to Chattanooga. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #175. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dion Lee Smith Jr.

Tommy Curtis White, 50, of Birchwood, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010.

He was a veteran of the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Hale White; son, Johnny Ray White; mother, Ola Denton White; two sisters, Rebecca Norwood and Donna Hansford; three brothers, Edward White, Charles White and Robert White and several nieces and nephews.

Daniel Power Wolfe, 54, of Hixson, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, at his home.

JASPER -- Charles Edward Byrdwell, 91, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at his Jasper home.

The son of the late Ed and Ada Mason Birdwell, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Mae Allen Byrdwell.

Mr. Byrdwell was a World War II Army veteran and a former CARTA bus driver with 40 years experience.

Survivors include his nephew, Don (Brenda) Birdwell, of Jasper; niece, Judy Harris, of Jasper; niece, Jenny Ruth Blansett, of Orme, Tenn.; Ina Eslinger, of McDonald, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

CLEVELAND -- Joshua "Joshi" Lee Freeman, age 3, was ushered into heaven by a host of angels Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at T.C. Thompsons Children's Hospital in Chattanooga from over a year long battle with Hepatoblastoma cancer.

He was the son of Timothy and Nadene Freeman. Our Joshi was a true, valiant warrior and fighter during his battle with cancer. So many lives were touched by Joshua during his short stay here on earth. Joshua is now resting pain free in Jesus' loving arms.

He was preceded in death by an uncle, Jeff Freeman; and a cousin, Jared Bean.

Survivors include his father and mother, Timothy and Nadene Freeman, of Cleveland; grandparents, Otis and Mary Bean, of Chattanooga, and Jack and Donna Freeman, of Cleveland; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Englewood with the Rev. Chad Denton and Mark Hensley officiating.

CLEVELAND -- Sharon Kay Goode, longtime resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010, of complications following surgery.

She was an Honors Graduate of the Cleveland State Nursing Program. Recently retired from a distinguished and successful career as a Registered Nurse, most recently for the Bradley County Health Department, she was called home by the Lord before we were prepared to let her go.

Her life was filled with love and commitment to the family and friends around her. She was a woman of intense belief and opinion, passionate feelings and certainty in her approach to life. She was a steadfast friend and fiercely independent throughout her life. A lifelong Baptist, she worked to ensure that her beliefs formed the basis of her life and guided her actions. She was generous to a fault and never stopped giving of herself to comfort and support those around her.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Willie Mae Brown.

She is survived by her son, David Wagner and wife, Annissa, of Chattanooga; three grandsons, Nathan Naylor, Jacob Wagner and Spencer Wagner, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Carol Richardson and husband, Allen, of Lynnhaven, Fla., Pamela Hill Moss and husband, Bill, of Cleveland, and Lisa Davis and husband, David, of Lake City, Fla.; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Millard McDowell

SPRING CITY -- Millard Dean McDowell, 79, of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Spring City, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Gateway Hospital in Clarksville, Tenn.

Born in Spring City, he was the son of the late Joseph Johnson and Grace McCulley McDowell. Millard was a graduate of Rhea Central High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Millard was stationed in Germany and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. After 22 years of service in the U.S. Army, he retired in 1973. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

Millard was preceded in death by his sister, Dot McDowell; brother, Billy McDowell; and grandson, John Robert Davis Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Leta Fugate McDowell, of Clarksville; son, Mike (Jill) McDowell, of Spring City; daughters, Diane (Ed) Byron, of Spring City, Karen (John) Davis, of Adams, Tenn., Pam (Jeff) Robertson, of Woodlawn, Tenn., and Jan Smelser, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister, Jo Freeman, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

SOUTH PITTSBURG -- James C. Morris, 54, died Monday, May 10, 2010, in a local hospital.

The son of the late John Edward and Mary Williams Morris, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a graduate of South Pittsburg High School and Sedine Bible College and had worked for Lodge Manufacturing, Rivermont Nursing Home and North Jackson Nursing Home. He was also a talented artist.

James was preceded in death by two aunts, Maggie Williams and Omie Hill; and brother, Johnny Lasater.

KNOXVILLE -- Patricia V. "Pat" Timberlake died on Monday, May 10, 2010.

Earlier in her life, she had resided in Chattanooga, Cleveland and Riceville. Her husband, Richard H. Timberlake is a United Methodist minister who served at St. John and Trinity-Woodmore churches in Chattanooga. In the 1960s, she taught in the first integrated Head Start program in East Chattanooga. She later taught kindergarten classes at Ridgedale Elementary School.

She is survived by her husband and two children, Tim and Janet.

A Celebration of Pat's life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Concord United Methodist Church in Knoxville.

Glenn Mull

COHUTTA -- Glenn C. Mull, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Heritage Healthcare Center of Fort Oglethorpe.

He was the son of the late Andrew Braxton and Falby Ownbey Mull and was preceded in death by his five sisters, four brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Glenn was a loving husband, father and brother who loved to help others. He served as a volunteer fire fighter for Whitfield County and Cohutta for more than 35 years and was an avid golfer and loved to teach others how to play. He was an umpire for Little League Baseball for the Cohutta community for many years and also coached girls softball in the Dawnville community. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mildred Edgeman Mull, of Cohutta; children, Betty and Johnny Lawson, of Cohutta, David and Kathy Mull, of Dalton; grandchildren, Elicia and Paul Walker, Lindsey Mull and Brady Mull, all of Dalton, Brandon Reagan, of Chatsworth; great-grandson, Nick Walker; brother and sister-in-law, Boyd and Pam Mull, of Chattanooga; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The family would like to say a special thanks to his many friends, nurses and staff at Heritage Healthcare Center, Cedar Creek Trucking, golfing buddies and Fire Department friends.
