Bradley County woman charged with child abuse

Bradley County sheriff's deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call of a domestic disturbance Sunday evening in the 2500 block of Rodney Way.

A neighbor who made the initial call reported a woman was outside the residence holding an infant by one leg upside down. Deputies also spoke to one of the parties involved and were told the woman drove off in a reckless manner with two children, ages one and two, in the vehicle.

A short time later a Whitfield County, Ga., deputy spotted the vehicle driven on Highway 71 and performed a traffic stop. Family members were contacted and took custody of the two children. Suspect Synthia Denise Huckeba was taken by Whitfield County authorities back to the state line, where she walked across and surrendered to Bradley County deputies.

Ms. Huckeba, who is 22, is charged with aggravated child abuse and two counts of aggravated child endangerment. She remains at the Bradley County jail on a $25,000 bond.
