Traffic is being diverted near the intersection of Signal Mountain Road and Mountain Creek Road after a serious accident.
Between Mountain Creek Road and Mundy Road, vehicles traveling in both directions are being diverted around the nearby Burger King, but police say they will soon reopen Signal Mountain Road.
One car, severely damaged on the right hand side and its lights still on, was still in the middle of Signal Mountain Road about 5:30 p.m. A second car is about 25 feet down a nearby embankment.
There are eight police cars and one fire truck on the scene.
