Employee accused of misusing doctor office's money

A Tunnel Hill, Ga., woman was arrested Tuesday and charged with using her company credit card for personal use.

Deloris Annette Barnett, of 3205 Cruiser Drive, is charged with first-degree forgery, financial transaction card fraud, identity fraud and theft by conversion, Dalton, Ga., police spokesman Bruce Frazier said in a news release.

"The charges are connected to an investigation into discrepancies with bank accounts and credit card accounts of her former employer, Dalton Family Practice," he said.

Barnett, the practice's former office manager, is free on bond, according to police.

The investigation began Aug. 30 after the practice reported a credit card being used without authorization, Frazier said. Investigators determined that the card was in Barnett's possession.

Barnett also is accused of using one of the practice's checking accounts for personal expenses, Frazier said.
