Forsyth County, Ga., security guard shot to death

CUMMING, Ga. - Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton says a grocery store security guard is dead after being shot during a robbery.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says authorities identified the guard as 37-year-old David Casto of Winder. Paxton says Casto was shot in the head and his body was placed in a cooler.

The sheriff says the shooting happened at an Ingles store on Canton Road just before midnight Sunday.

Paxton says a group of robbers with their faces covered held up the store after closing time. He says two store employees were tied up with duct tape and left in the cooler.

The sheriff says the robbers got away with some cash.

Paxton says there's been a series of robberies in the county that may be connected.
