Scales on list for top job in Dallas

Departing Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Jim Scales is a finalist for interim superintendent of schools in Dallas, Texas, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Hired in 2006, Scales led Hamilton County Schools for five years before accepting a buyout offer last month that is estimated to bring him around $300,000. His last day is Friday.

Scales came to Hamilton County from a job as deputy superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District.

The Morning News reported that Scales is among five finalists and that school trustees could settle on a final choice Monday.

Scales is the only one of the five not currently working in Dallas schools.

The current Dallas superintendent, Michael Hinojosa, is leaving the post to become superintendent of schools in Cobb County, Ga., the Morning News reported.

The school trustees could make the decision as early as Monday.
