Whitfield County: Trespasser forces lockdown at Beaverdale Elementary School

DALTON, Ga. - A man who entered Beaverdale Elementary School here this morning and began shouting and waving his arms was escorted outside and the school locked down, according to a statement from the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office.

At about 8:45 a.m, a man entered the school at 9196 Highway 2 and started waving his arms and shouting religious-type statements, authorities said. School administrators were able to immediately get the man out of the building and lock the school down. Responding officers located the man outside and took him into custody, according to the statement.

Sheriff's office personnel took the man to Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, where he was admitted for evaluation. Investigators determined the same man was escorted off the property of a Murray County school on Tuesday, authorities said.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Wallace Lowry, 72, of Sugar Creek Road in Chatsworth, on charges of criminal trespass and disrupting public schools.

Authorities said Mr. Lowry will be arrested when he is released from the hospital.
