Chattanooga: Meeting on Health Department cuts under way

Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield's meeting on budgets cuts to the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department is under way, but so far the discussion has focused on the Homeless Health Care Center.

Hamilton County put off plans to relocate the Homeless Health Care Center to 11th Street as part of a joint venture with the city.

Coppinger and Hamilton County commissioners are not at this morning's meeting.

Executives with local hospitals are participating.

"At Memorial we provide a nurse at the homeless health care clinic," said Howard Roddy ,vice president at Memorial Health Care System. "Additionally we work with the Community Kitchen ... homeless patients, when they're dismissed from surgery, can't recover under a bridge or something."
