Chattanooga: I-24 lane closures set for this weekend

Some lanes on Interstate 24 East and West will be closed this weekend on a $5.3 million major resurfacing and bridge repair project, the Tennessee Department of Transportation said.

The closures will start tonight at 7 p.m. and run through Monday at 6 a.m.

Between mile markers 181 and 182, either one lane or two will be closed for bridge deck repairs to three bridges in the ridge cut in downtown Chattanooga. Two lanes of traffic will be open except between the hours of 10 p.m.-5 a.m., when only one lane may be available.

Beginning Sunday, milling and paving will begin on I-24 East and West between the U.S. 27 split at mile marker 180 and Chattanooga Creek at mile marker 177.

The remaining work will be done at night between the hours of 7 p.m.-6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and on various weekends from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. The estimated completion date project is Aug. 31
