2 wounded in shooting at TSU homecoming

NASHVILLE - Two people have been wounded in a shooting at the Tennessee State University homecoming celebration.

Police told WTVF-TV an 18-year-old male was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His exact condition was not known, but police said they alerted emergency room doctors to expect a patient in trauma condition.

The second victim also was hospitalized, but nothing else was immediately known about that person.

The shooting took place on the street just outside the campus at about 12:15 p.m.

More than 40,000 people were expected to attend the Saturday homecoming festivities.

Several events were planned on campus leading up to the 5 p.m. game between the Tigers the University of Tennessee, Martin, held at Nashville's LP Field.
