A woman in DeKalb County, Ala., has been charged with arson after an apartment caught fire in Powell, authorities say.

Tiffany Ann Holland, who lived in the apartment that burned, has been charged with first-degree arson and is in the county jail on a $50,000 bond, said DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris in a news release.

About noon Sunday, a fire was reported at the Lowell Bell Apartments on Broad Street, the release said, and the Rainsville Fire Department and Powell Volunteer Fire Department responded. Evidence at the scene indicated the fire may have been purposely set, Harris said.

It took several hours to locate Holland, who had reportedly fled the scene after starting the fire, the sheriff said.

No one was injured in the fire, which was contained to the single apartment, he said.
