Two in Alabama arrested in burglary of grieving family's home

Police arrested a man and a woman they believe robbed a home while the family was out at a funeral home.

Shane Henagar, 40, and Kelli Thein, 29, are charged with breaking into a Fort Payne home on Friday night and taking jewelry, coins and medication, said DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris in a news release.

The family said the stolen items belonged to a loved one who had died, Harris said.

On Saturday, police acted on a tip and went to the suspects' home. The officers observed marijuana from the doorway and the two were initially arrested on charges of second-degree possession of marijuana, Harris said.

After finding the stolen items, multiple theft charges were added to both suspects, Harris said.

Henagar is currently in DeKalb County jail on a $25,500 bond, while Thein was released on a $12,000 bond, authorities said.
