The aunt of a baby remains incarcerated on a $125,000 bond after her 12-week niece died from blunt force trauma to the skull while under her care.

Jessica Lynne Fax, 28, of Harrison faces a charge of criminal homicide after she cared for Elizabeth Mia Fry.

Initially, when detectives responded to the residence at 5910 Ft. Sumter Dr., the baby appeared to show no signs of injuries, according to the affidavit of complaint.

Hamilton County Medical Examiner Bruce Wainer found multiple skull fractures when examining the infant. It's possible there were multiple impacts to the child's skull, according to the affidavit.

When asked about the infant's death, Fax told detectives she dropped the baby on the floor. She then fed the baby and put her to bed.

"The area of the floor is covered in new carpet with new padding and could not have caused the injury to the child," the affidavit states.

Fax, who has no prior record in Hamilton County, has her next court date set for Oct. 15 before Hamilton County Sessions Court Judge Ronald Durby.
