The man who shot at a person stealing his truck in the parking lot of a Walmart will not face charges, a grand jury decided Tuesday.

Desi Arnez Lawrence, 55, left his keys on the counter inside the store on Sept. 11 and someone picked them up, police said. As the thief was driving away in Lawrence's truck, he fired several rounds toward the vehicle.

Lawrence could have been charged with felony reckless endangerment, but the grand jury decided not to indict, according to Chattanooga police spokesman Officer Nathan Hartwig.

Christopher Goins, 25, has been charged with theft over $10,000 and parole violation in connection with the theft of Lawrence's truck.
