ATLANTA - Atlanta police say they're investigating the death of a child who was struck by a vehicle on the city's southwest side.
Police said the 12-year-old was found dead on a sidewalk around 5:30 p.m. Monday near Boulder Park Drive and Brownlee Road.
Atlanta police Officer John Chafee says a preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was heading east on Boulder Park Drive when it struck the child as he crossed the street. Authorities say the vehicle then left the scene, but the driver later turned himself in to police in Clayton County.
Police say charges are pending against the driver, whose name wasn't released.
