The Volkswagen brand's sales in March fell 0.8 percent from a year ago to 532,400 vehicles as demand dropped in Europe, the company reported today.
Still, for the first quarter, sales rose 5.2 percent to 1.43 million cars.
Christian Klingler, VW's sales chief, said in a statement that markets are becoming more difficult and in some cases decidedly more challenging.

Meanwhile, the brand's first-quarter sales gained 7.3 percent in North America and 21 percent in the Asia-Pacific region.
