Bill Cosby

Hey, hey, hey, the Cos is coming to the Tivoli Theatre on April 14.

Tickets to see Bill Cosby, comedian, author, actor and pudding spokesman, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at the Memorial Auditorium box office. You can also buy tickets online at chattanoogaonstage.com or by phone at 642-TIXS. All seats reserved from $48 to $65.50 plus convenience fees.

Cosby became a household name with "I Spy." He was the first African-American to co-star on a television series and won three consecutive Emmys for his work. He then created and produced the Emmy-winning cartoon "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids," which began airing in the 1970s and was made into a film in 2004. The show was based on Cosby's childhood in Philadelphia and was both educational and entertaining.

He used a similar formula with "The Cosby Show," a weekly sitcom about a close-knit, upper-class black family. Time magazine called the show "an encouraging sign of maturity in matters of race." It was the No. 1 rated show for half of its eight-year run.
