Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke and Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger are in Germany today seeking an expansion to Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant, an official said today.

Ron Harr, chief executive of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, said the two men were not able to attend the Mayor's Industry Appreciation Breakfast today because of their travel schedule.

"This is a step in the process" of landing more Volkswagen production, Harr said. "We said, 'bon voyage.'"

Volkswagen is discussing the possibility of producing a new sport utility vehicle in Chattanooga.
