Murder trial begins in 2011 death of teen girl stabbed with scissors

The murder trial of a 25-year-old Chattanooga woman began this morning in the 2011 stabbing death of a 15-year-old girl.

Prosecutors claim Temekia Reed stabbed Shaviya Vinson with a pair of purple-handled scissors during a street brawl at College Hill Courts public housing complex on Dec. 19, 2011.

A jury of six men and seven women was selected. One juror is black, the remaining jurors are white. Reed is black.
