John Allen has resigned as the football coach at Central High after just three seasons.

Allen got the Pounders into the Class 4A postseason but they lost a first-round game at Sequoyah last week to finish the season at 5-6. It was still an improvement and equaled the win total Allen's teams had over his first two seasons at the school when Central went 2-8 in 2012 and 3-7 in 2001. The playoff appearance was Central's first since 2010.
