ATLANTA - Winds were expected to whip into gusts of up to 40 mph as the storm that's delayed Thanksgiving travel around the country bore down on Georgia.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for north and central Georgia that's set to run through 7 p.m. today.
Forecasters expected winds of 15 to 25 mph with the higher gusts, which could make driving some vehicles difficult. The weather service also said that some trees might fall, given the recent rains.
There were several reports of snow covering cars along Interstate 20 west of Atlanta and Interstate 85 in west Georgia.
At a gas station along I-85 in Hogansville, about 55 miles southwest of Atlanta, several parked cars were covered with a light coat of snow.
Temperatures remained above freezing across much of Georgia early today, sparing residents from treacherous ice.
