The deadline was noon today to turn in signatures in an effort to recall Councilman Chris Anderson.
Charlotte Mullis-Morgan, chief deputy of the election commission, said this morning that 793 signatures have been verified - that's nearly half of the required amount.
Anderson opponents need 1,600 signatures to put the question to a public referendum.
Election officials said this morning that hundreds of pages of signatures were turned in, but it will take until May 9 to evaluate them.
