Water line flushing planned on Elder Mountain

Water mains serving Elder Mountain residents will be flushed Monday as part of Tennessee American Water's annual maintenance program, a company news release states.

Flushing the system entails sending a rapid flow of water through the water mains to clear out mineral deposits and built-up sediments, the release stated. As part of the flushing program, crews will check and operate fire hydrants to help ensure fire protection in the community.

Customers may experience a temporary drop in water pressure or discoloration of their water for a short period while the flushing is underway. The best way to handle it is to let the water run briefly until pressure and clarity return.
