A Jackson County, Ala., deputy was forced to shoot a man Thursday at a home in Bryant where authorities were called to investigate a domestic disturbance, authorities said.
Just before dark Thursday, deputies went to a home at 1541 County Road 291, where they found a mother and her daughter behind a truck, according to a news release.
As deputies talked with them, a man later identified as Jerry David Nunley, 44, walked out of the house with a weapon in each hand. Jackson County authorities said the deputies commanded Nunley to drop the weapons but he ignored them.
"Nunley then approached the deputies and threatened to kill them," the release states.
When Nunley raised one of the weapons, one of the deputies shot him.
Nunley was airlifted to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga. His condition had not been released as of late Friday.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting, and the results of that investigation will be presented to a Jackson County grand jury, authorities said.
