One person who was exposed to the chemical was put through decontamination and transported to the burn center in Augusta after apparently inhaling the chemical, police said in a news release. No word is available on his condition.

EARLIER STORY: Dalton police and firefighters are responding to a chemical reaction accident at a plant on Kimberly Park Drive.
The reaction is over. The chemical is not poisonous but is an irritant, according to police.
Willowdale Road, Kimberly Park Drive, and Crow Valley Road are all closed. Authorities say the areas must be avoided. Those who live in the area are advised to stay indoors and shelter in place for now.
The chemical can be smelled on Highway 41 nearby but it is not shut down.
One person on the scene had to be decontaminated.
The incident occured at MFG Chemical. There were also chemical accidents in the plant in 2012 and 2004, according to Times Free Press archives.
