Georgia judge denies bond in dismemberment slaying

AUGUSTA, Ga. - A judge in Augusta is denying bond for a man charged with killing his roommate and dismembering the body.

The decision means 21-year-old Altaye Levelle Knight will remain in jail on charges of killing 27-year-old Damon Terrell Prymus.

The Augusta Chronicle reports Knight was arrested May 22 after a woman picking wildflowers found the Prymus' body in a field.

The two men worked together at a restaurant. A prosecutor says Knight told authorities he beat the other man with a baseball bat after they got in an argument.

The body sat in the house for a few days before the man allegedly went to a store and bought an electric saw that was used to cut up the body.

The public defender's office says Knight will likely argue self-defense.
