BMC Racing's Taylor Phinney, winner of the USA Cycling men's time trial championship on Saturday in Chattanooga, crashed hard on Lookout Mountain in Monday's men's national road race championship.
Phinney crashed hard on the descent following the first of four climbs of Lookout Mountain and was taken to Erlanger hospital for treatment, according to BMC press officer Sean Weide.
Bill Kellick with USA Cycling confirmed through BMC officials that Phinney suffered a broken leg in crash.
