Business and traffic along Market Street were disrupted for more than an hour on Friday when a construction crew accidentally broke into a buried natural gas line, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department. The gas leak prompted the shutdown of Market Street in both directions in the 1400 block and the evacuation of several businesses and apartments in the immediate area. By about 10:40 a.m., the leak was shut off. There were no injuries.
