A 34-year-old man is in jail today after police say he robbed a cab driver at gunpoint around 1 a.m. Easter morning.

The cab driver, Russell Porch, told police that he went to his niece's home at 1009 Hickory St. to give her a ride, but instead of his niece, the suspect, Gregory Scott, got into the cab.

Scott put a pistol in Porch's mouth and held a knife at his throat and demanded Porch's cash, the Mercury Cab driver told police. Porch gave Scott $227, he told police.

Police responded to the home on a disorder call and arrived to find Scott standing in the open driver's side door of the cab. When police arrived, Scott raised his hands and told them nothing was going on, according to his affidavit.

Police pulled him aside for questioning and that's when Porch shouted that Scott had a gun, according to police. Officers then took Scott into custody at gunpoint.

They later found a pistol on the ground by the cab, and also discovered a knife and $227 in Scott's pocket.

Scott is charged with aggravated robbery and possessing a firearm with the intent to go armed. He is being held in the Hamilton County Jail.
