The way out of Chattanooga was blocked on Friday after disabled vehicles slowed traffic exiting the city. I-24 is backed up in both directions in downtown Chattanooga due to a disabled vehicle. Motorists are advised to seek other routes.
Additionally, a crash on I-75 Southbound was reported at 5 p.m. and estimated to be cleared by 7 has partially blocked the road just north of the 75/24 split above the Georgia border.
Earlier, a person was killed today in a two-vehicle head-on collision on Hixson Pike, according to Chattanooga police.
The crash happened around 3 p.m. at 6800 Hixson Pike.
One person died at the scene and three other people were taken to a hospital for treatment. The person who died has not yet been identified, pending notification their family.
