Police officers on Signal Mountain arrested a Chattanooga man early this morning and charged him with multiple counts of theft.
Gregory Hopkins, 23, is allegedly responsible for stealing merchandise this week from parked vehicles on the mountain, according to Chief of Police Mike Williams in a written statement.
The arrest was made after a resident of the mountain called police, telling them a suspect was searching through their vehicle. The caller yelled at the suspect, who ran into the woods. Williams said that officers quickly responded to the scene and were able to locate Hopkins as he attempted to leave the area in his vehicle.
Some of the stolen items have been recovered, Williams said, and more is expected to be found as the investigation continues.
