TRAFFORD, Ala. -- A Birmingham-area mother and her boyfriend are charged with aggravated child abuse following the death of her 3-year-old daughter.
Jefferson County sheriff's officials say 23-year-old Misty Lynn Wright and 39-year-old Johnathon Wayne Talley were jailed without bond Tuesday.
The two were arrested after 3-year-old Jettie Adams was found unresponsive on a mattress on the front porch of a home in Trafford on Monday morning.
The child was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. A medical examiner determined she died from severe internal injuries from a homicide.
Sheriff's authorities say capital murder charges could be filed against at least one of the adults.
Court records aren't available to show whether Wright or Talley have an attorney who could comment on their behalf.
