An admissions executive who has worked for Girls Preparatory School for more than 20 years is suing the institution for what she says is age discrimination.

She alleges in the lawsuit that school leaders demoted her to a receptionist and cut her salary because of her age. She is 66.

According to the lawsuit filed Wednesday, Barbara Hodges was demoted from her post as assistant director of admissions to receptionist because she "got tired at certain events because of her age."

Her salary was cut from $52,761 a year to $45,000 annually, and she was told it would be further reduced next year, according to the lawsuit.

Hodges is asking for damages due to mental anguish, emotional distress and humiliation. She's also asking for back- and front-pay and court costs.
