Fired police Detective David Catchings, Jr., was sentenced today in Hamilton County Criminal Court for an offense that caused his termination from the Chattanooga Police Department earlier this year.

Catchings pleaded guilty today to driving under the influence, and his charge of domestic assault was dropped. He was fired from his position as a detective with the police department because of these charges in March.

Judge Barry Steelman sentenced Catchings to serve 48 hours behind bars, two years of probation in Hamilton County, and said he is required to attend weekly AA meetings, pay a fine of $465 and surrender his drivers license for a year, according to court officials.

These are the common requirements for a DUI first offense.
