When Denise Seaton smelled and saw smoke, she started screaming at her family to evacuate her house, according to a news release.

The 911 call came into the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department at 4:50 p.m. that a house at 1653 Lisalynn Drive had heavy smoke coming from it, the release said. Upon arriving at the scene, the fire department noticed the fire had spread from the walls of the main floor to the second floor.

Firefighters had the fire under control within 15 minutes, the release said, and saved the house from burning down.

Seaton, a renter, initially smelled smoke and walked around the house to investigate the smell. That's when she saw heavy smoke "pouring" through vents in the dining room and also coming from the ceiling fan, the release said.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and still under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

No injuries were reported and the release said damages are listed at $25,000. The family will be staying with friends.
