SPRING HILL, Tenn. -- A savvy customer at a Middle Tennessee home-improvement store who reported seeing something suspicious in the garden center may have saved some lives.

The customer told store employees that there appeared to be a rattlesnake in the store.

Manager TJ Thompson told WKRN-TV that he shut down that section of the store while he called wildlife experts, who quickly removed the intruder.

Animal Pro technician Adam Warden told WTVF-TV that the timber rattler wiggled furiously and tried to strike at the tongs used to remove it from beneath a store shelf.

The venomous snake is native to Tennessee and officials think it might have crawled in from a nearby field.
