A wrong-way driver and an overturned truck blocked north- and eastbound travelers on area interstates for hours on Sunday.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said people injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 24 atop Monteagle Mountain were flown by air ambulance for treatment.

The THP said the crash happened at mile marker 135 and three vehicles were involved. Both eastbound lanes were shut down for a time in the morning but reopened by Sunday afternoon. No information was available on the identities or conditions of those hurt in the crash.

In McMinn County, a northbound tractor trailer hauling auto parts on I-75 blew a tire and overturned around mile marker 51, blocking one lane for hours. Lt. John Harmon with the THP said there were no injuries.
