Food drive feeds 400 families

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank and several North Georgia schools and churches teamed up Saturday to feed 400 families.

The Raider Nation Mobile Pantry, held at at Southeast Whitfield High School, provided each family with pantry items, fruit and vegetables and a box of items collected during a hygiene drive, such as toilet paper, shampoo and laundry detergent.

"We're providing 50 pounds of food for the families to have during the winter break," said Michelle Thompson of the Chattanooga Area Food Bank , which provided 22,0000 pounds of food. Eight school that feed into Southeast collected $200 each and the hygiene items.

Three Whitfield County churches - Mount Rachel Baptist Church, Church on the Hill, Rock Bridge Community Church - lent support as well.
