Michael W. Shavers, the 21-year-old who shot at a young couple as they were leaving the Waffle House on Cummings Highway early Wednesday morning, has been taken into custody.

The shooting occurred around 12:45 a.m., and less than 12 hours later, the Chattanooga Police Department had issued warrants for Shavers on two counts of attempted murder.

The suspect was found in a cave in Trenton, Ga., by the Chattanooga Police Department's Fugitive Division.

The victims, Ashley Harris, 22, and Joshua Maples, 25, were exiting the Lookout Valley restaurant's parking lot in their vehicle when Shavers, Harris' ex-boyfriend, began shooting at them, a press release stated.

The victims arrived at a hospital via personal vehicles. They had non-life threatening wounds, according to the release.

Shavers has been booked into the Dade County jail.

The Dade County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals Service assisted in Shavers' apprehension.
