Athens City Schools will be closed today because of widespread illness, according to the system's website.
Monday is a school holiday due to Presidents Day, so students will get an extra-long weekend.
Kids Connection will also be closed Friday but will meet at Ingleside School on Monday, the system's website states.
Athens, Tenn., is located in McMinn County. On Monday, McMinn County schools were closed due to illness. And that followed the Friday, Feb. 6 closing of Etowah City School, located in the southeastern portion of McMinn, for a high number of illnesses.
