Authorities in Franklin County, Tenn., are looking for a man who sprayed homes on North High Street in Winchester with gunfire from a .223-caliber assault rifle early Tuesday.

Winchester Police Chief Dennis Young said late Wednesday that officers there are seeking Marc Andrew Castle, 40, of Winchester, in connection with a theft of weapons from a local home and the gunfire sprayed into the home of a 70-year-old local woman and another residence.

The woman was home but uninjured.

"We have searched high and low," Young said. A state patrol helicopter and lots of officers on foot so far have been unsuccessful located Castle.

"We've had lots of calls from people who think they saw him but no good leads yet," the chief said.

Castle suffers from mental problems and has often threatened law enforcement, he said.

The man's family has been "very cooperative and they have been in constant contact with us," Young said.

Meanwhile, patrols in the area have been doubled until Castle is found, the chief said.

Authorities still consider Castle to be dangerous and believe he is still carrying weapons with him.

He was last seen pushing a bicycle not far from the shooting scene on High Street and is believed to be on foot.

Anyone with any information on Castle's whereabouts should contact Winchester-Franklin County Crime Stoppers line at 931-962-INFO (4636) or 911.
