Police: man asks woman for a lighter, she stabs him instead

Kimberly Moore has been arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder for allegedly attacking her boyfriend, Terry Gauntt, with a kitchen knife.
Kimberly Moore has been arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder for allegedly attacking her boyfriend, Terry Gauntt, with a kitchen knife.

Terry Gauntt, 49, told police he got more than he asked for when he requested that his girlfriend, Kimberly Moore, return his cigarette lighter.

Instead of the lighter, Moore, 45, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him repeatedly, according to a news release.

Police say the two then ran outside where Gauntt was able to take the knife from Moore and call police.

Police responded at around 2:20 a.m., located Moore down the street and took her into custody. Gauntt was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Moore was arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder.
