Alabama man arrested for impersonating a police officer

GADSDEN, Ala. -- Authorities say a man driving a vehicle with blue lights on its roof is charged with impersonating an officer.

Etowah County Sheriff's Capt. Josh Morgan said 43-year-old David Michael Combs of Fyffe was stopped Thursday afternoon when authorities saw his vehicle had blue lights on its roof and a handicap plate.

Authorities said Combs was wearing a shirt with "police" printed on it, had two guns, handcuffs and a hand-held radio inside his vehicle. Authorities said Combs told them he was responding to a crash and was a constable for the DeKalb County sheriff's office.

Officials said DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris confirmed that Combs is not an employee.

Authorities said he was arrested on a similar charge in 1993.
