Ocoee Middle School's band director is among the victims of last night's wreck on I-75 that Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher said was "among the worst crashes I've seen."
The fiery pileup Thursday evening on I-75 northbound near Ooltewah has claimed the lives of 6 people and injured more than 15 others.
That section of the interstate was closed until earlier this morning. Police spokesman Kyle Miller has said investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
"In over 20 yrs as an LEO [law enforcement officer], this is among the worst crashes I've seen. Our thoughts & prayers r w/those affected by this tragedy," Fletcher tweeted last night.
Chattanooga police have not yet identified victims. But the Bradley County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Ramsey confirmed that Brian Gallaher, whose father is the Juvenile Court Director, was among those who perished.
Gallaher was the band director at Ocoee Middle School in Cleveland, Tenn., and perished in the wreck.
