Signal Mountain house burns out of control

Blaze burns home to the ground despite response from multiple fire departments

Fire poured out of the attic and 35 percent of the home was on fire when firefighters arrived at 2045 Oak Street at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Walden's Ridge Emergency Service personnel conducted what they termed a "defensive attack" to get the fire under control, and requested additional manpower to combat the blaze, according to Amy Maxwell, the public information officer for Hamilton County Emergency Services.

The call was answered, with firefighters from Signal Mountain Fire Department, Lone Oak Volunteer Fire Department, Red Bank Fire Department and Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department moving to assist the firefighters already at teh scene.

Homeowner Henry Estill was not home when the fire broken out and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire, which burned the home to the ground despite the best efforts of firefighters, has not been determined. Hamilton County Sheriff's Office will investigate the fire, which they estimated at $125,000 in damages.

Estill will stay with family.
