A 1-year-old boy was struck by a car Sunday afternoon at the West 14th Street Courts but received only minor injuries, police said.

The toddler was playing near a parked vehicle when he was struck, according to a news release. The car was a white Dodge Magnum with large chrome wheels and a black leather car bra on the front.

Police said the driver, a balding black male with a beard who appeared to be in his 30s, stopped and got out of the car to render aid. But he began arging with the child's parent and left, police said.

The boy was being observed overnight in a local hospital.

Anyone with information on the driver's identity is asked to call Chattanooga police at 423-982-2525.
