A 39-year-old Ooltewah man was arrested Monday and charged with animal cruelty after a witness told deputies that the man allowed a pit bull to kill a small white dog.

The witness said that Joseph Gann threw the small dog into the area where the pit bull was located at 10707 Dolly Pond Road around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
