An unattended, half-naked toddler was spotted walking on Three Notch Road just north of Battlefield Parkway in Ringgold this morning.

Concerned motorists stopped and pulled the child, a little girl between 3 and 4 years old, out of harm's way. They then contacted the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department.

Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk said officers took the child, clad in what appeared to be a sleep shirt, around to nearby neighborhoods until she was able to identify her home. Sisk said the child's mother was unaware that the child had left the house.

Sisk said no charges have been filed against the mother at this time. Though Sisk said that children wandering off isn't uncommon, he said he would be notifying the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services to do a follow-up.
