The kickoff for the historic community fundraiser for the Collegedale Commons, scheduled for Monday, has been postponed because of the severe weather and flood issues facing the region.

The fundraiser now is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and last until 7:30. The agenda for the event will be the same, with the community Christmas tree lighting at 6:30 p.m.

The event will take place at the site of the Commons, which is adjacent to City Hall in Collegedale.

"We are sorry that the weather has disrupted our plans, but we hope all the people who are excited about this project will come on Thursday," said David Barto, director of the Collegedale Tomorrow Foundation, in a news release.

The foundation is developing the Commons in the City Hall campus.
