James Kyle TarltonHamblen County authorities arrested a 43-year-old man who allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old girl on the pretense he would "rid her of visions of demons," a spokeswoman said.
James Kyle Tarlton, of Whitesburg, was charged with one count of aggravated statutory rape. He was being held Friday in the Hamblen County Jail in lieu of $125,000 bond.
Carrie McCann, spokeswoman for the Hamblen County Sheriff's Office, said more charges are pending against Tarlton. Tarlton is on probation on a previous theft conviction in another East Tennessee county, McCann said.
